Hello Ryerson Families…Welcome back!

Let me introduce myself to those of you who don’t know me. I am a special education teacher working with 2nd and 3rd grade students. I collaborate with classroom teachers to support the individual learning needs of our students. You may find me working with small groups, with individual students or co-teaching within the classroom. One of my roles is to provide students with strategies for organization and work completion.

With all of the activities after school, our schedules can become hectic. Parents should take an active role in helping to schedule and monitor their child’s homework completion. The following suggestions may help in teaching your child how to function at home when doing their homework.

  • provide a comfortable workspace
  • have a daily routine for school work and stick to it
  • as your child completes an assignment, have them put it directly into their backpack, this minimizes the morning “rush” and eliminates the possibility of something being left behind
  • ask questions and discuss your child’s homework with them
  • check their homework for correct assignment work, completion, thoroughness, and neatness
